FIELD DAY 2002
*****Pictures and Recap ****
This event was held at private shelter area on the PEETZ family farm near Napoleon. A special thanks to Brock Peetz and Mitch Eaton for their work in getting the location ready for the RCRA group! Much clean-up of the area after winter, along with a renovation fo the shelter, new paint and lighting made the place look completely different than it had when the club had the picnic meeting there on May 12!
Field Day 2002 for the RCRA started out as a serious effort to hold the Indiana state title in our division after the first place showing last year. But, after the low attendance and lack of serious operators was realized, the group went to a more relaxed social and educational and FUN mode!
The RCRA FIeld Day 2002 ended up with a total of 411 contacts. (this is compared to the 706 contacts on 40 meters alone last year). The breakdown is as follows : 40 meters- 106 contacts; 75 meters-164 contacts; 20 meters-85 contacts; 15 meters-40 contacts; 10 meters 16 contacts.
Present were:
KB9MGI Judy, and KA9FTM -Sam were the first two on the grounds at 6am.
N9SEP-Dave and wife Suzie; KB9UVG-Dave, KM9X-Dan; KA9IRF-Ollie; KB9UVF-James with Theresa and Crystal; N9TMH-Deb and N9MLH John; KB9ZOK-Mike; KB9AKQ-Jim; KB9VRY-Louis; KB8ASO-Randy; N8JPW-Bob and Janice; KB9ZOL-Mel; N9JUW -Dave and KA9WRA-Retha; N9XZF- Marilyn. Jerry Peetz, Brock Peetz, Pink Peetz, Mitch Eaton and Dan Brunner of the family owning the location, as well as the caterer, Ron Powers with Kountry Katering also toured the operations. The Peetz gang even brought firewood and kindling to use in the new campfire area they had build for Field Day! Word has it that SMORES were produced on the fire Saturday night!
Everything went well and the weather was great! Thanks to everyone that came and helped to make it a success!
